About me
Most people grow out of the "but why?" stage. I never did.
I turned curiosity into a career. A genuine interest in what makes people tick - and what it's like to live a certain way - led me into an almost 20-year career in TV and documentaries, sometimes living vicariously, always relishing the chance to understand people and the world a bit better.
It was never really the credits or the award do's - the real buzz was the impact of the work. The social worker who gets her lunch paid for by the person behind her in the queue after they appear in a series. The adoption sites that crash through a surge of interest. Forums where sex workers say the programme made them feel seen. Even during research, it's the kick of seeing people feel valued for what they do and what they can share.
Working in TV taught me that any subject can be compelling with the right approach and the right voices. I once worked with an award-winning director on a programme about traffic - genuinely one of the least appealing subjects imaginable. It was tough. When I finally met the main contributor in a service station, I was so relieved I swore I'd name my first child after him. (I didn't, sorry Gary.) It turns out that traffic can be engaging, with the right people.
A filming job in Mongolia led me to communications with an international sustainability organisation. It was there that I realised when an organisation is so close to their strategy and intentions, it's easy to overlook what engaging stories they're sitting on.
So these days, that's mostly what I help with: finding the stories organisations are missing, finding the people who naturally bring the work to life, and framing it in a more interesting way. Because when you get it right, you don't just inform people - you change how they see the work, and sometimes, how the people doing that work see themselves.
Teamwork
Should you choose to come to us for your end-to-end production needs, I assemble the right team for each project—drawing on years of experience knowing who to call and what each project needs. From drone operators to colour graders, you get people suited to your specific story. Here are two examples of the calibre of professionals I work with:
Emma
Emma is a rare talent in being able to shoot beautifully- authentically and discreetly capturing the story, while also being able to build a genuine rapport with whoever she is filming. Often working with just one other person, Emma’s filming captures a sense of intimacy that resonates with the audience, while always remaining respectful of those filmed.
With over 25 years of filming experience, Emma has worked in challenging and remote environments, from documenting the lives of farmers in the rugged Orkney Islands to capturing the gold rush in a newly opened mine. Her work also extends to emotionally charged projects, such as hospital documentaries and stories of children living in poverty.
Ann-Marie ‘AM’
Ann-Marie brings a distinct visual flair to every project through her expertise in animated content.
AM’s motion graphics skills are a powerful tool for enhancing storytelling, simplifying complex information, and unifying projects through dynamic visual effects. Whether it's through moving text or intricate animated illustrations, AM consistently delivers creative elements that add real value.
With experience spanning both brands and the TV and film industries, AM is a true asset, elevating every project with her creative skills.
